June 30, 2013, was Harry Stevens Hot Dog Day in downtown Niles, Ohio - re-inaugurated after about 30 years. Lots of "stuff" going on including a parade highlighted by the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. For those who don't know, Stevens lived in Niles at the time he is credited with inventing the hot dog (not the wiener itself, but putting it in a bun as a concessionaire to make it easier to handle). The land that is now Stevens Park in the city was donated by his family after his death.
