Lubec, Maine, is the easternmost point in the United States; reportedly, the sun rises here first (at the West Quoddy Lighthouse). It's a rather dilapidated, but clearly once thriving, fishing village, quite interesting and lots of fun to visit. Just across the harbor in New Brunswick, Canada, is Campobello Island, summer home of the Roosevelt family (think F.D.R.). Campobello also is home to the impressive East Quoddy Lighthouse.
