Dumping: Sept. 11

Good day today - beautiful sunshine and have heard that family and friends caught in Irma's path are safe (albeit with a little damage and flooding). We also got the last of the loads of fill dirt to even out the cavity left by removal of the pool. It'll get spread out soon, and after that it'll just need a layer of topsoil and we're good to go. Our sweet son-in-law Jerry transplanted 3 of the sunflowers that would have been buried in the dirt in hopes of saving them - they're around the flowering plum tree near the back fence in this photo - but alas, they didn't "take." Within a couple of hours they'd started to wither, so I cut them down and stuck them in a big vase. The large flower, which was winding down anyway, probably won't last the night, but it looks like the other two may survive a bit longer. Oh well - it'll be easy to grow them again next summer!
