As a new year nears, some folks contemplate their navels. I prefer to contemplate my socks -- literally. In honor of the auspicious occasion, I've donned a pair I've worn every New Year's Eve since the computer panic of 2000 -- remember that? My sweet hubby Jack got them for me for Christmas 1999, and on New Year's Eve he, me and the socks waited for a meltdown that never happened.
