For the past several years, I've opted to challenge myself to taking at least one photo each day for the entire year. It serves several purposes, the most important of which are forcing me to really look at photo possibilities and ending up with a record of what happened in my life during the year.

This year begins with two major changes: My involvement as a freelance contributor to the newspaper at which I was managing editor for 14 years and a freelancer for another 11 has come to an end (well, except for one column a month at the time of this writing). Second, I've ended my years-long membership in a photography website because changes in direction have made it not worth the participation time and expense. The immediate result is more free time, so for the most part I'm doin' a happy dance!
