Welcome to my photographic world! From our home in northeast Ohio, my husband Jack and I love to branch out to other parts of the country to find some of our favorite subjects, like lighthouses, old grist mills and other historic sites, local, state and national parks and my "specialty," colorful flowers and plants. The galleries here showcase some of our travels (as well as my family, friends, favorite pets and some of the awards I've been fortunate to win along the way) in the hope that visitors will be encouraged to go see for themselves. I'm a semi-retired newspaper editor, journalist and amateur photographer who keeps busy with freelance writing and photography projects. My husband and I love to travel, and our favorite destinations include the North Carolina Outer Banks, the coast of Maine and the western coastline and Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I write several blogs, including my latest, a celebration of the great cuisine that's available in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania called Mahoning Valley Eats & Treats. A second blog is an ongoing compilation of poems written by my late father, Harold A. Pickett (aka "Slim Acres"), who published several books over the 96 years of his lifetime and was a well-known public speaker throughout Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. The blog is titled The Best of Slim Acres and features a new entry each Sunday.
Our family includes two grown children, Scott and Chistine, and four grandchildren: Cassandra, Alexandra, Jacklyn Rose and Jarrett Allen. We've made our home in northeastern Ohio for many years -- Go Bucks!

I found your blog in Fanfare a few days ago and today I logged into your blog. Your dad's poems are really a treat. I e-mailed the address to my e-mail buddies. I do not know if I every met your dad or not. We moved into Chestnut village in Apil, 2007. I'll look forward to more of his poems every week.
