Two years ago, at the urging of friends Pete and Carole, we trekked to the beautiful state of Maine in early September. Needless to say, we loved it for way too many reasons to list here (not the least of which is the abundance of lighthouses). We vowed to return as soon as possible, hopefully to stay longer and see even more of that wonderful coastline.

This year (2008), we did it again. This year, too, we met up off and on with our friends -- after years of coming here, they know all the nooks, crannies and great places to eat fresh lobster. We spent something like 14 days in the state (plus a couple of notable stops in other states on the way and again on the way home).

What's here is a collection of photos that I hope show the beauty and diversity of coastal Maine. Some represent my best efforts at photography, others are far less than perfect and none have been "doctored" much beyond minor corrections like cropping. My sole intent is to show you what I saw -- and what you'd see if you went to these places. Some photos hopefully will make you say "Oooooh" -- and others may bring a smile to your face.
