On July 7, my husband Jack and I decided we needed a little R&R. Remembering a great little motel in Port Clinton, Ohio, right on Lake Erie, he made reservations for one night. We had a wonderful time and were lucky enough to catch a great sunset. In between, we ate hearty, visited the Marblehead Lighthouse and nearby attractions.
On July 8, we came home by way of Vermilion and Lorain to see lighthouses there and get even more photos. I'd just bought a new camera -- a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS -- and wanted to give it a real workout. It's got a 20X zoom and both macro and "super" macro modes, so there was plenty to try. The reason for buying it is I needed a versatile and lightweight camera I can use instead of the heavy Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR I inherited from Jack. It also needed to be small enough to carry easily, but not as small as the pocket-size models I've got that work quite well but are less powerful. So far, I'm impressed!
Wonderful shots, Monnie! That new camera looks like it is doing a great job for you. The macro modes are really clear and capture the color very nicely. I'm impressed!

Looks like the two of you had a great time on your trip...so many places in so little time... :) and your new camera did a wonderful job of capturing all of your adventures!

I am entering a message before I look. I know I will enjoy every one of them. I know what you mean by having a bit smaller and lighter camera. I have been thinking about that myself. I am looking up here at the thumbnails and getting excited, better close, and go look.
