"Maps" is an acronym for Military Aircraft Preservation Society, and the 300-or-so members of this all-volunteer nonprofit group are responsible for operating and maintaining the museum near the Akron-Canton Airport in North Canton, Ohio.
The
MAPS Air Museum includes two large buildings; one houses airplanes, artifacts, photos and other memorabilia and a gift shop, while the other is used for refurbishing airplanes (also done by volunteers), displaying some 2,200 model airplanes and housing the Louise Timken Research Library.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The admission for seniors is $7, and donations are welcome!
