An old swimming pool is in our back yard, covered with an equally old and tattered green cover. A few days ago, we got a visit from a male Mallard, who wandered around the yard and perched for a bit on the cover. This afternoon, as we were sitting on the deck minding our own business, he and his mate showed up. They've been perched on the cover for some time now and don't seem to mind humans, although we were careful not to get too close (my photo for today for sure)!
