Bodie Island Lighthouse is on my short list of favorite lighthouses. This year, we were disappointed that the sky has almost a permanent haze, apparently from the huge forest fire at a nature preserve inland. Some days the smell of smoke hangs in the air at night an early in the morning, but it dissipates during the day. Unfortunately, it means the background of photos is way less than ideal.
