Whalehead Club, Corolla
The recently opened Whalehead Club is a striking example of Art Nouveau architecture. The structure was started in 1922 as a private retreat on Corolla Island. Over the years, the property deteriorated considerably, and in 1992 it was purchased by Currituck County. Since then, it's been restored and today is used for special events like weddings. One side overlooks the water and the other offers a great view of the Currituck Lighthouse.
