Memorable Site: Aug. 9

Two great ideas in a single day: Every 2 or 3 months, Jack decides he wants pizza for dinner. Often, that means stopping in to order one from Papa Johns, then heading next door to Gasoline Alley for a beer while we wait. Also sometimes - like today - we get an order of wings to go to add to the pizza (we always get garlic butter; there are only 2 places that do them up the way I love 'em; Gasoline Alley and the Lake Tavern up north in Mecca). That was the plan. But knowing I didn't yet have a photo on this beautiful day, my sweetie said he'd pull into the McKinley Memorial in downtown Niles to take care of that issue. He did. Here's my favorite (not counting the pizza and wings, most of which are gone now). And for those who don't know, that's a statue of President William McKinley, who was born and lived for a time in Niles).
