Cornflowers: March 3

For today's photo, it's back to the "stuff" we've accumulated over the years. Corning Ware's Blue Cornflower pattern will be familiar to many - it was the first pattern of the cookware that could go directly from freezer to oven and introduced in 1958. In summer 1962 when I left my job at U.S. Stoneware Co.'s Chamberlain Laboratories in Stow, Ohio, to move to Niles prior to getting married on Aug. 18, my co-workers gave me an entire set (at least 20 pieces) as a parting gift. I still have several, including this teapot. Whether or not it's valuable depends on where you look; I found the teapot selling everywhere from $53 to $13 online.
