Newton Falls Covered Bridge: April 1

The Newton Falls covered bridge connects Bridge Street with Arlington Road and crosses one of the two branches of the Mahoning River that cut through the village. The 117-foot, Town Lattice Truss style bridge was built in 1831 and reportedly is the second oldest covered bridge in the state, the only one in Ohio with a covered crosswalk and the last covered bridge in Trumbull County. A year or so ago, the bridge reopened to traffic after extensive repairs, only to be closed again within months when it was damaged by a vehicle. Just recently, it opened for traffic once again, so we took a drive today to get some photos before somebody smacks into it again.
