We haven't had a real cat in our house since our daughter moved out on her own (taking our resident feline with her). Lots of reasons, but mostly because we're on the road too often to deal with a pet of any kind. That doesn't stop me from loving the critters, though -- it's just that now the ones I have (dozens) can't go meow in the night.
