Today my sweetie Jack slipped on ice in our yard in mid-morning and ended up with an ankle fractured in 3 places. About an 8-hour story short, he had surgery and now boasts two screws and a plate plus a cast. He's in the hospital tonight (Trumbull Memorial, Room 817), but we expect he'll come home sometime tomorrow. He's grogged out but came through quite well. The doctor said he's looking at a couple of weeks in the cast and then who knows how long with a leg brace and therapy.

The devil made me record the moment for my one-a-day photo -- his foot in the original cast done at the emergency clinic before he got the ambulance ride to the hospital.
