Burton Log Cabin: March 20

This morning, Jack, Jerry, Barb and I headed north to Burton, Ohio ("Pancake Town USA") for the annual pancakes and home-tapped maple syrup breakfast. We drove past the Burton Log Cabin on the town square, so I rolled down the window and snapped this for today's photo of the day. Owned and operated by the Burton Chamber of Commerce, it's open all year and sells all types of maple products (if you're lucky, you'll find maple cotton candy - a real treat)! If you look closely, you'll see a maple tap and bucket on the tree at the right.

As for the pancakes, we tried the high school location only to find the line to get to the serving line was so long that some folks had been waiting an hour. No way, we said. Recalling a sign pointing to another location, the American Legion hall, that said "No Waiting," we headed there instead. The wait was maybe 5 minutes, and we pigged out on regular and blueberry pancakes, hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausage, OJ and coffee for 8 bucks a person. No doubt where we'll head first next year!
