Not long after noon today, we went to the annual "cook-off" fundraiser at St. Rose Church in Girard, Ohio. There were 18 "stations," each serving up portions of the cooks' specialties, ranging from chili to manicotti to kielbasa and kraut slider sandwiches. Tickets were just $5, and all but the pickiest of eaters couldn't avoid getting filled up. After finishing, guests voted on their favorite entry (one vote per person). Jack and I both chose the "Chicken Thangs" by Mary Lou Ralls, while Jerry and Barb picked the "Jambalaya" soup by Harry Biddle (our second favorite, by the way). Then, Jack stopped at the homemade baked goods table to buy a "Death By Chocolate" Bundt cake to take home ($5) and in the process became my photo of the day.
